Abstract

Capillary precision cutting means processing tubes so small — ≤40mm OD, down to 5mm in extreme cases — that standard machines cannot hold them, let alone cut them accurately. This is a physics problem. QG Laser solved it. The G25 and G40 are the proof.

The Engineering Challenge

Five problems. All solved:
  1. Clamping force control — Thin walls deform under standard chuck pressure
  1. Coaxiality — Small tubes deflect easily, drifting off the cutting centerline
  1. Heat-affected zone — Low thermal mass means laser parameters must be surgically precise
  1. Vibration suppression — High length-to-diameter ratio = low natural frequency = cut chatter
  1. Focus positioning — Auto-focus accuracy required at ±0.1mm
